Good teamwork and bad teamwork

When the team does not work well together...

By Giorgia Madonno Marco Polo Consulting

Most of my clients in China face the problem of cross-functional teamwork, especially for the management team. Better than words the issue can be described with the below video.

How to improve this kind of situation? At Marco Polo consulting, with the help of our partners Peoplerise, we have found a formula that is giving very interesting results.

During a 2 days workshop the team understands the importance of  team work on the level of engagement in the company and its impact on results, than the participants work actively to eliminate the Five dysfunctions of a team. They work on the relationship and trust among team members, on the level of active discussion and healthy conflict, than they understand how to improve the commitment of the team on the taken decisions and, very important, how to eliminate silos across functions for the benefit of the entire company result.

In meantime a survey helps to understand where the group and the company is in terms of engagement,  and the team defines together plans and useful actions that are regularly monitored through the survey that becomes a dashboard for the management team. Periodic check up let keep the momentum and revitalize the integration among the team members. Individual or couple coaching sessions allow the team members to work on more personal relationship issues.
We have tested this approach with several companies, it really works.
